Q&A with M. Weiss, a Reset patient

Ily MacPherson [Reset]: So first, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

M. Weiss: Okay. From the year 2000 to 2017, I used to work for Rooms to Go, and I worked in the office as an office assistant, which was a very stressful job. And I retired in 2017. I work at Marshall’s, and I work in the back room, and I hang clothes, put sensors on them, and then hang the clothes on the rack.

My ex-husband just passed away last year in January. And recently, this past December, I came down with bronchitis, which knocked me and brought my sugar up. That's when I found out I was in stage four kidney disease. Basically, when I found out I was in stage four kidney disease, I freaked out, and I'm still freaking out. I'm scared to death and trying my best because I don't want to go on dialysis. If I can keep that far away for now, I'd be very happy. Absolutely.

But I am out of breath, so I'm a little worried because now I really haven't been working since I've been sick. So now tomorrow I get back to work. I'm a little worried. I don't know if I can handle being on my feet for 4 hours and twisting and turning without being out of breath.

Ily MacPherson [Reset]: Okay, let me ask you, what were your first thoughts when you learned about kidney disease and what it could mean for your future?

M. Weiss: The first thing I thought was I was going to die and that I did not want to go on dialysis because I remembered what my mom went through, and she really couldn't go on dialysis. So I thought about all that, but the fear I have is that I'm going to die.

Ily MacPherson [Reset]: What made you choose to come to Reset? And, what would you tell other patients who may be considering Reset Kidney Health?

M. Weiss: Because I don't know how to eat, I have to be careful now with everything -  the proteins, the phosphorus, the potassium. I was not sure with having diabetes and stage four kidney disease, if I can still eat what I was doing on diabetes or if that will hurt me. I was not sure where to go. So I decided to come to Reset.

Lindsay, my dietician at Reset, is very professional and down to earth. She answers my questions. Reset also sent me recipes for plant-based meals, which l appreciate very much. Reset is a great help, so I hope they will continue guiding me to keep me away from dialysis. I would highly recommend Reset.
